I’ve been working away on creating a fantastic coffee table book from the 5-pug pet photography shoot I did a few weeks ago.

The book has come together really well and I’ve uploaded it (to the US-based online book publisher I use) and have ordered the client’s copy. I can’t wait to see it! It should turn within the next 2 weeks.

The really great thing about creating books for clients is that it’s a great way to include so many more photos from their session than they would normally order if they were just getting prints. Plus, it’s a great opportunity to include lots of extra photos of little details, alternative expresssions or funny poses that aren’t necessarily ‘wall-hangers’, but are still nice photos to have.

Book are another great way to collate together images taken over a longer period of time – for instance, if I do a series of baby photo sessions over baby’s first year, at the end of the year the client can order a book showcasing all the best pictures of their baby from newborn to one-year-old.

I mainly create books of my own photography but from time to time do the retouching and layout for people who have their own photos already. Maybe they want their wedding photos made into a fantastic hardcover coffee table book album, or maybe they just want their holiday photos arranged nicely in a keepsake book. Whatever the occasion or circumstance, I love creating books for people that they’ll treasure. Give me a shout if you’ve got a book idea you’d like some help or advice with.
