My previous post was about a shoot I did recently to create promotional studio portraits of a couple of very talented swing dancers.
My assistant, collaborator and general partner-in-crime Brence Coghill came to assist with the shoot and ended up filming a lot of behind-the-scenes footage (on a Canon IXUS point-and-shoot, for those of you playing at home).
Brence has edited together a fantastic little video giving a glimpse into what goes into producing the finished product, using video, stop-motion footage and the final finished images.
It’s only 6 minutes long and has quite a groovy yee-hah soundtrack (thanks to danosongs.com), so grab a cup of coffee and have a look.

awesome! thanks for sharing. the shoot was quite different than what i expected. i like that you seemed to have a quite exact pose in mind for every picture. and it comes across (like in the results) that you have a good vibe going on at the shoot.
seeing you dance-pose was very entertaining as well, so i might think about those selfportraits you recomended

Hey Sharon, great shoot and love the finished product. I was just on a site called fstoppers that display behind the scene videos and they have a contest on BTS videos there. Have you seen it? I think your video would be a good contender!

Hi Min,
Thanks for your comment. I’ve had a couple of people mention that I should submit the video to fstoppers so I’ve sent them a message to see if they are keen. Thanks for having a look – glad you enjoyed the video

No problem. I just started out west coast swing after a couple years of Salsa. Although, that isn’t West Coast, looks more like Lindy Hop?

Yup, you’re right. They’re a couple of die-hard lindyhoppers.
