Sharon Blance Christchurch Photographer

A little bit about me

I grew up in Canada and have been creating pictures for as long as I can remember.

My first love was painting, but a school project to make a pinhole camera out of a shoebox sparked a lifelong fascination with the captured image – I’ve now been photographing for two decades.

I love to create promotional images – helping to showcase people, places, ideas, products and businesses.

On a personal note, I’ve always been fascinated with spectacle – theatre, dance and the performing arts from opera to vaudeville, ballet to drag. Some of my favourite photographs are those that capture the grandeur, mystique and beautifully orchestrated artifice of the many forms of ‘show biz’.

Always a fan of the classics, I’m a sucker for 1930s black & white movies and Bugs Bunny cartoons.

I love variety, have an up-to-date passport, travel as often as possible and relish the challenge of unique assignments.

I currently live in Christchurch, New Zealand (yes, home of the earthquakes) with my partner-in-crime Brence Coghill, who does fantastic photography of his own. Brence and I work collaboratively offering commercial and editorial photography and video services through our photographic company Image Workshop.
