Natural Elements
The images in the Natural Elements collection celebrate the essential colours, shapes and patterns found in living nature.
None of the images were taken in a studio or ‘set up’ in any way, but instead were photographed in ‘found’ locations like domestic front gardens, roadside plantings and even amongst the weeds in front of my postbox.
These are everyday views that go unnoticed at their normal scale – vistas of leaves and petals that in reality measure only a few centimeters, yet look new, alien and arresting when enlarged and printed.
It’s a voyeuristic look at the plants in their day-to-day existence, and there’s a very up-close and personal feeling to the images.
The works are intended as a celebration of colour and design rather than a textbook-like documentary series.
