In October 2010 I visited the northern Vietnam. What an amazing place.

From the organised chaos of Hanoi’s Old Quarter to the serene rice paddies of the northwest mountains, Vietnam is a place that assaults your senses, challenges your mind and works its way into your heart.

My trip took me from the bustling city of Hanoi up to the town of Sapa in the northwest mountains, and then a glorious week spent wending my way back to Hanoi by motorcycle – through tiny hilltribe villages, across many mountain passes and even traversing the occasional landslide. Amazing.
